Dancing in Senegal
Dancing is a huge part of Senegalese culture. It's everywhere: in schools, on the streets, at parties, in clubs. Below are some quick videos of some of my dancing experiences.
This is in Toubacouta, the same village in which I wrestled (see blog entries below). The day after my wrestling match, I was invited to attend a baptism, which are more like big parties or family reunions than what we think of.
I went to Porokhane for a Muslim pilgrimage. Hundreds of thousands of people descended on a very small, rural town. I couldn't help but throw myself into the party. Enjoy these videos of me trying to dance.
